Silent Fireworks

YANG Chung-Ming's works White Powder-puff and Red Powder-puff were inspired by Ai Ya's book Silent Fireworks, where the author describes silk tree flowers as red and white powder puffs. Ai Ya recalls her childhood, pretending to use the flowers as powder puffs while playing. This evoked memories for YANG, who imagined two little brides playing in a courtyard filled with these trees. After encountering a blooming red silk tree, YANG observed, photographed, and sketched it, leading to these works. Viewed through traditional begonia-patterned glass, these flowers connect Ai Ya's nostalgia with the artist's daily life.
