Timeless Narrative: During his collaboration with the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute, YANG Chung-Ming discovered the institute's complete set of 95 volumes of the Honzo Zufu, a botanical atlas compiled by Japanese botanist Iwasaki Tsunemasa over 20 years and published in 1828. This nearly 200-year-old collection, printed using Japan’s woodblock techniques, reflects the botanist’s lifelong research and artistic achievements of that era. Two centuries later, Yang responds to this historical milestone with modern materials and techniques. He selected 40 of the most artistic pages from over 2,000 images, using torn paper and subtle imagery to symbolize the passage of time. Unadorned Flora blends contemporary science and art, offering a nostalgic reflection on history and a modern interpretation of "beauty" across different eras.
